HOW

Nothing can stop Pop Icon Miley
and her ‘twerking’ ways. She marches
to the beat of her own drum but it was revealed in 2009 that Miley Cyrus suffers from tachycardia. She told MTV “the type of tachycardia I have isn’t dangerous. It won’t hurt me, but it does bother me. There is never a time on stage when I’m not thinking about my heart and if it’s going to stop in the middle of a performance!”

What is Tachycardia?

It is a faster
than normal heart rate at rest. A healthy adult heart normally beats 60 to 100 times a minute when a person is at rest. With tachycardia, the heart rate in the upper chambers or lower chambers of the heart, or both, is increased.

Causes

Heart rate is controlled by electrical signals sent across heart tissues. Tachycardia occurs when an abnormality in the heart produces rapid electrical signals.

Symptoms

In most cases, it has no symptoms or complications except shortness of breath. However, this heart abnormality can seriously disrupt normal heart function, increase the risk of stroke, or cause sudden cardiac arrest or death.

Treatments

A fast heartbeat may correct itself, but this can be slowed by certain physical exercise too. However, some
may need medication to slow down the heartbeat. Those af icted may need an injection of an anti-arrhythmic medicine to restore a normal heart rate. An injection of this drug is administered at a hospital. LEARN MORE HERE
