It’s relentless. Every day we lose millions of skin cells. The complexion’s natural elasticity, smoothness and brightness decreases as the residue of cells build up on the surface layer, the Epidermis.
The Secret To A Radiant Complexion Is No Secret
- Use decent skincare products, preferably organic so that they don’t contain harmful oestrogen disruptors.
- Enjoy a nutrient-dense diet that’s low on sugar and high on fibre and quality protein.
3. Drink plenty of water; I add apple cider vinegar to my daily dose as it:
- Helps heartburn and acid reflux
- Promotes healthy cholesterol levels
- Can aid in healthy weight loss
- Promotes healthy blood sugar
- Boasts antioxidant properties
- Improves nutrient absorption
5. Quit smoking, and that includes shisha
This Is My Regime
The skin is the largest organ of the body in terms of surface area and weight. It exists for protection, regulation and sensation. It’s not just the skin on the face that needs attention but the full body.
I exfoliate with a salt scrub mixed with coconut oil, olive oil or almond oil a couple of times a week. Not only does exfoliation leave you silky smooth, the sea salt application eliminates negative energy around the auric field. It also soothes and nourishes simultaneously, saving you from using a separate moisturiser.
I exfoliate in the shower while my skin is still wet, then I let the water run over me to wash away the salt, leaving the oil residue behind before patting myself dry. Body moisturisers are just as important as face creams to keep the skin looking radiant.
A thorough daily routine is a must, the younger you start the better. Simple cleansing and toning with a moisturiser or a moisturising sunblock works for teens, no need to go any higher than SPF-30. After products become quite chemical, which could lead to other problems like acne or pigmentation. Serums are always a great way to get quick results as they penetrate quickly and target specific problems like wrinkles. The golden rule is they go on after the toner and under the moisturiser. Nowadays, professional skincare brands formulate one cream for day and night care. This saves the ordeal of looking for a day cream and a night cream, but remember; a day cream serves to protect, whilst a night cream is to nourish. Although at night bodily functions slow down, everything connected to the skin speeds up and this is where the regeneration process takes place, therefore a more nourishing cream is needed.
Professional Products Versus O-T-C Products
In general, professional or cosmeceutical products spend money on the ingredients, whereas beauty products spend on marketing and packaging. Professional products will always contain more active ingredients such as vitamin C, vitamin A, and hyaluronic acid. This is where the difference lies. Quicker, better, longer lasting results hands down. Your skin is a living organ – remember that! If you want to keep glowing over time, take time to give back to yourself by investing in good skincare products, enjoying regular specialist facials and maintaining a balanced lifestyle. After all, until your 30’s you have the face you were born with and after that you have the face you deserve…
